Acne can be a painful, unsightly and stubborn skin ailment that is usually eliminated through using a few over-the-counter skin care products. When you need to clear your skin very quickly, however, it is helpful to use a few products that will speed up the rate at which the skin can be cleared. These products, when used in combination with each other, will cleanse the skin, kill off acne-causing bacteria and keep the skin properly hydrated.

Step 1

Cleanse your skin with a tea tree oil soap. Splash water onto your skin, then rub the tea tree oil soap in between your hands under water until you create a rich lather. Spread the lather over your entire face, then rinse it off with warm water. Repeat twice per day; once in the morning and again at night.

Step 2

Medicate your skin with a 5-percent benzoyl peroxide cream. Squeeze a pea-sized amount of benzoyl peroxide cream onto your fingers and spread it onto your skin. Massage the cream into your skin until it has completely soaked in. Repeat twice per day after cleansing.

Step 3

Hydrate your skin with an oil-free lotion. Squeeze a dime-sized amount of oil-free lotion onto your skin and gently massage it in until it has been absorbed into the skin. Repeat twice per day after using the 5-percent benzoyl peroxide cream.

Tips and Warnings

  • Benzoyl peroxide cream is one of the most effective acne-fighters on the market, and typically comes in strengths of 2.5 percent, 5 percent or 10 percent. The 2.5-percent benzoyl peroxide cream is one of the most widely used to treat mild to moderate acne, but to clear acne more quickly, it is helpful to use the mid-strength 5-percent benzoyl peroxide cream. Make sure the lotion you use is oil-free. You can use an oil-free lotion on acne-prone skin without clogging the pores or causing more acne to erupt; however, a lotion that contains oil can make acne worse.
