1. Continue Taking Oil and Sugar Water for Weight Maintenance
As any successful dieter knows, maintaining weight loss can be even more difficult than slimming down in the first place. The Shangri-La Diet is different from other diets in that it allows you to eat all foods, as long as you take the flavorless oil and sugar water that are the cornerstones of the program. In the maintenance period, this does not change. You can eat a variety of foods along with the oil and sugar water and still maintain your weight loss. In some cases, you'll need to adjust the amount of the oil or sugar water to maintain a constant weight. This is commonly accomplished by trial and error. You can change the amounts a little at a time until you find a level where you neither lose nor gain weight. This process may need to be repeated at intervals as long as you follow the plan.
2. Add New Foods to the Menu
Eating new foods and adding new flavors play a large part in the Shangri-La Diet. These new foods keep your body from maintaining a high set point, which increases hunger. Finding new foods, new flavors or foods that are mildly flavored enables you to keep the set point low enough to maintain your weight loss. Healthy food choices are the best, as they help control weight while also helping you maintain good health.
3. Incorporate an Exercise Program into Your Weight-Loss Regime
Any permanent weight loss is easier to sustain when exercise is part of the equation. Incorporating at least moderate exercise can help you burn extra calories while keeping your heart healthy. Whether you run, walk, ski or swim, getting your body moving at least three to five days per week can aid in keeping your weight at normal levels. Remember, you should always get approval from your physician before undertaking an exercise program.
