Getting your children involved in sports is a great way for them to receive needed physical activity. Playing football in the backyard is a great way to bond with your kids and help them develop the abilities they need to play football within leagues, at school, or just with friends. A simple and easy to construct backyard football field goal can be constructed from plastic PVC pipe and parts purchased at a home improvement center or hardware store. The entire goal can be constructed in an afternoon and can be broken down later for storage.

Step 1

Cut the PVC pipe to the proper lengths.

Step 2

Insert a 2-foot PVC pipe into the side of one of the tee connectors. Insert an 8-foot length of pipe into the other side of the tea connector. This will complete one side of the base.

Step 3

Attach an elbow to the other end of the 8-foot length of pipe and adjust it at a 90-degree angle to the tee connector. Insert a 10-foot length of pipe into the other end of the elbow. This will act as the back of the base.

Step 4

Attach another elbow to the other end of the 10-foot length of pipe. Insert the other 8-foot length of pipe into the other end of the elbow. Attach the side of another tee connector to the other end of the 8-foot length of pipe and align it in the same direction as the first T connector so that they are both facing upward. Insert the other 2-foot length of pipe into the other side of the tee connector. This will complete the base of the football field goal.

Step 5

Insert a 4-foot length of pipe into the upward-facing tee connector. Repeat this step with the remaining 4-foot length of pipe and the other tee connector.

Step 6

Attach the remaining T connectors to the end of the 4-foot pipes. Align the stems of the two tee connectors on the 4-foot pipes so that their stems face each other. Insert the ends of the remaining 10-foot length of pipe into the stems of the two connectors. This will form the crossbar.

Step 7

Insert each of the 6-foot pipes into the tee connectors that form the crossbar. These will act as the verticals for the field goal.
