Program Description
Navigating the health care system can be hard for many people, especially the elderly. It is very common for adult children to act as their parents' health care advocate. Being an active participant at your parents' health care appointments is a great way to help your parent receive the best possible care.
Actions
1. Keep a schedule of all your parent's appointments.
2. Write a list of any symptoms you notice in between appointments.
3. Bring a copy of your parent's medical history and prescriptions.
4. Bring a list of all your questions and concerns.
5. Tape record or take notes during the appointment.
6. Ask questions.
7. Discuss any follow-up care required.
