Face creams are designed to protect, moisturize and soften skin. According to GlenbrookFarm.com, they are emulsions, usually consisting of between 60 percent and 75 percent water and 20 percent to 30 percent oil, with the remainder being the emulsifier, preservatives and other ingredients. This face cream recipe provides a base to which many other ingredients can be added to suit your specific tastes. You can find most of the ingredients at your local grocery store or pharmacy. Beeswax, the antioxidant Trophenol T-50 and the preservative Germall Plus can be purchased at craft stores or online.

Step 1

Combine the distilled water, aloe vera gel and glycerin in a stainless steel pot. Stir these ingredients thoroughly and heat them to 170 degrees F for 15 minutes. Use the cooking thermometer to gauge the heat.

Step 2

Combine the olive oil, beeswax, borax and soy lecithin in the second pot. Heat these ingredients until the beeswax has melted and the borax has dissolved. Hold the temperature at 170 degrees F for 15 minutes.

Step 3

Transfer the ingredients of the second pot into the stainless steel bowl. Slowly pour the ingredients in the first pot into the bowl. Use the stick blender to combine the ingredients as you add them. Once all of the ingredients are combined, continue to blend them until the cream has thickened.

Step 4

Cool the mixture to approximately 120 degrees F. Sprinkle the Germall powder into the mixture and add the Trophenol T-50. Blend these in thoroughly.

Step 5

Add more water if the cream is too thick. Add more melted beeswax if the cream is too thin.

Step 6

Cool the cream to room temperature and spoon it into the sealable container.
