Sleep wrinkles are those little lines on your face that you notice first thing in the morning. They occur when you have slept with your face buried into the pillow or from wrinkled sheets. During the day, sleep wrinkles do disappear, however as time goes on, they can become permanent. Early home-treatment options can prevent sleep wrinkles from remaining on your face as you age.

Step 1

Apply a moisturizing night cream to your face before bed. This keeps the skin soft and prevents collagen breakdown over time. With proper moisturization, the skin will plump back out to its normal smooth appearance, no matter how many times you experience sleep wrinkles.

Step 2

Use a satin or silk pillowcase. These two fabrics do not promote skin wrinkling, as their texture is smoother and slicker than cotton and polyester. They also prevent moisture loss from the skin, leaving it healthier and less prone to wrinkles.

Step 3

Change your sleeping position. Train yourself to sleep on your back to avoid pillows being near your face. Sleeping on your side or stomach causes your face to be buried in the pillow.

Step 4

Opt for bedding that is made with aloe vera. There are bedding products now on the market that nourish the skin through contact while sleeping. Aloe vera is an essential ingredient that supports skin health and collagen fiber generation.

Step 5

Check your pillow firmness. Firmer pillows tend to promote deeper sleep wrinkles due to the additional pressure placed on the skin. Softer pillows have more leeway and help keep wrinkles at bay.
