With so many products that claim to reduce cellulite, it can be hard to know how to really reduce cellulite in the buttocks. According to the Mayo Clinic, cellulite is simply fat that appears dimpled under the skin and usually shows up on the hips, thighs and buttocks. In order to reduce cellulite in the buttocks you need to remove body fat and tone the muscle in this area. Engage in healthy eating, fat burning exercise and strengthening workouts.

Step 1

Choose foods that promote weight loss. My Pyramid recommends eating whole grain breads, a variety of vegetables, fruit, low-fat dairy products and lean protein. These foods offer vitamins without excess calories, fat and sugar.

Step 2

Eat appropriately sized portion of food to reduce your calorie intake and reduce cellulite. Read the label on each item you consume to find out what a serving size is. Be sure to measure the serving size with a measuring spoon or cup.

Step 3

Participate in aerobic activity to burn excess body fat. Try to perform at least 30 minutes of aerobic activity, such as jogging or swimming, every day. Ace Fitness recommends working at about 70 to 80% of your maximum heart rate. Your maximum heart rate is 220 minus your age.

Step 4

Build lean buttocks muscles with strength training two to three days a week. Strength training builds muscle, reduces fat faster and helps your body appear more physically toned. Choose a variety of exercises and try to complete at least 20 minutes of training per session. Aim for 2 to 4 sets of 8 to 12 repetitions for each exercise you choose. See the Resources section below for some examples.
