How to Tone Sagging Breasts

Aging and pregnancy are the two main reasons that breasts begin to sag. It seems that gravity takes hold stronger than ever during these times. Women are not the only ones to suffer sagging breasts, however. As men gain weight and age, they too suffer sagging in the chests. This is due to rapid skin expansion and weakening of the pectoral muscles. There are several options for toning and firming sagging breasts.

Step 1

Exercise your pectoral muscles three to four times weekly. Lie down flat on your back with a 1- to 5-lb weight in each hand with arms extended to the side. Slowly lift your arms to your front, allowing the weights to touch, slightly. Repeat for up to 15 repetitions, working up reps over time. Another good exercise to perform to work the pectorals is the common push-up.

Step 2

Massage your breasts two to three times a week for at least five minutes each time. According to Rose Windale, Health and Wellness Coach, massage promotes new tissue growth which in turn causes breasts to become firmer. Massage also expels toxins from the breasts. Lotions or oils are not required, however you may use them if desired for a more sensual massage.

Step 3

Wear a properly fitted supporting bra. If you allow your breasts to sit in a poorly fitted bra, then they will succumb to sagging. Supporting bras will help the skin, fatty tissue and muscle to " memorize" the correct position.

Tips and Warnings

  • Correct your posture by standing with shoulders and hips horizontally aligned. Poor posture such as slouching makes breasts appear droopier according to Sabrena Merrill, Lawrence-Kansas-based personal trainer and spokeswoman for the American Council on Exercise. Yoga and other posture exercises will help correct and maintain posture. For breasts that do not respond to home treatment, a plastic surgeon should be consulted. A breast lift can significantly improve breast tone.
