Morphine is a prescription opiate analgesic medication indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe pain. This medication works by suppressing the central nervous system, which interferes with the body's ability to sense pain. Drowsiness
One of the most common side effects associated with morphine pill use is drowsiness. Shortly after taking a dose of this medication, you can begin to feel tired or fatigued and may fall asleep. Dizziness
During treatment with morphine, you can experience dizziness as a side effect. Dizziness can cause you to feel unstable when you attempt to walk or move about normally. Stomach Upset

Muscle Tremors
During morphine treatment, certain patients can experience abnormal muscular tremors as a side effect of this medication. If this occurs, you can also develop muscle convulsions or seizures, which should be reported to your primary medical care provider immediately.
Behavioral or Mood Changes
While taking morphine, you can experience unusual behavioral or mood changes as side effects of this medication. You can experience episodes of extreme happiness (euphoria) or sadness (depression) or may feel abnormally confused or anxious during treatment.
Decreased Heart Rate and Breathing
Treatment with morphine can cause heart-related side effects in patients who take this pill. If you develop an abnormally slow heart rate while taking morphine, contact your doctor immediately for further evaluation and care. You also may notice that your breathing becomes usually slow or shallow after taking a morphine pill. You should also report this side effect to your doctor.
