The home is a welcoming place to lose weight and get slim. This is particularly the case when you have limited resources and you do not have access to a gym. The main thing to take into consideration with home remedies to get slim is that you need to make smarter choices with your diet and you have to get your body moving more than usual. This might be difficult at first, but it will definitely be effective if you can stick with it.

Healthy Snacks

Snacks that are high in sugar and empty calories are not going to do you any good when you are trying to slim down.
Clean out your cupboards and refrigerator of candy bars, chips, pretzels, ice cream, cakes and cookies. If you need to satisfy your sweet tooth, eat dried fruit, cranberries, raisins and cherries. Mix these up with some nuts and seeds to make a nutrient dense mixture.

Beverages

Calories can lead to weight gain even if they are in the form of liquids. Instead of reaching for sugar-laden iced tea or soda, reach for a glass of ice cold water.
Not only can water spare you calories, but it also gives you a false full feeling when you drink it with your meals. If you want to add a little flavor to your water, throw in a slice of lemon or cucumber.

Breakfast

Skipping breakfast can make your attempt at slimming down a hard one. According to the Mayo Clinic, eating breakfast reduces your hunger later in the day, it keeps you on track to make healthier choices for the rest of the day and it also gives you energy, increasing your physical activity.
Make it a point to eat something before leaving for work. Whip up an egg white omelet with veggies, mix together a smoothie with fruit and yogurt, or spread peanut butter across a whole grain bagel.

Fiber

Fiber is a substance that does not get digested by the body when it is consumed. Fiber-rich foods can help fill you up and leave you feeling full long after you are done eating. Consume foods like whole grains, beans, fruits and vegetables, which are all high in fiber.

Cardio

Cardiovascular exercise is an important part of slimming down, due to its calorie burning potential. Perform cardio at home like power walking, running, jumping rope or calisthenics. Aim for at least 30 minutes of cardio four to five days a week.
When you are watching TV or waiting for potatoes to boil on the stove, get some bonus activity by walking in place, skipping around the house or doing some jumping jacks.

Muscle Building

Muscle is metabolically active tissue that can cause your body to burn calories when you are sitting still. If you are at home, you can do body weight exercises like push-ups, dips, squats, lunges and crunches.
You can also invest in rubber resistance bands to do conventional exercises like chest presses, lateral raises, back rows, bicep curls and lunges. Perform weight training two to three days a week.
