Echinacea

Echinacea is a plant native to North America. It was used by Native Americans as an herbal treatment for wounds. It was thought that the plant had antimicrobial properties, so it was used to fend off infection. Echinacea is now used as a mild supplement for flu and cold symptoms such as coughing. It also helps boost the immune system and reduce a throat irritated from frequent coughing. The plant's active compounds include polysaccharides, glycoproteins and alkamides, which help reduce the frequency and severity of coughing.

Garlic has been used for thousands of years as a medicinal treatment and illness preventative. Garlic is also an antioxidant, so it removes free radicals from the body to lower the chances of developing cancer. It can also be used to treat symptoms of the common cold such as coughing. The herb is used to alleviate symptoms and help reduce the longevity of the illness. It can also be used as to prevent the common cold. Garlic is available in vitamin shops and grocery stores.
