When eating foods with the element, avoiding substances that interfere with your body's absorption of iron can also be a crucial factor in eliminating Anemia.

1. Avoid sugar, which may augment anemia by lowering your iron absorption capabilities.

2. Red wine, coffee and tea interfere also with iron absorption.

3. Studies have shown that very high levels of zinc lead to anemia.

4. Calcium is known to hinder your body's ability to take in iron. But talk to your doctor before you cut out calcium.

5. Spinach, sweet potatoes, beet greens and rhubarb hinder iron absorption.

6. Steer clear of beer, candy bars, soda and ice cream. They all contain additives that can worsen the severity of anemia.
