Acetaminophen with hydrocodone is a narcotic used to decrease significant pain. While prescribed use is generally considered safe when taken appropriately and under the care of a health care provider, side effects can become bothersome. Understanding these side effects can help you decide if this medication is the right choice for your pain control.

Feeling Cloudy

Many individuals report feeling generally "cloudy" while taking acetaminophen with hydrocodone. Individuals may feel anxious or dizzy as well as drowsy. These side effects may be bothersome but are not typically serious enough to discontinue the use of the medication.

Gastrointestinal Side Effects

Acetaminophen with hydrocodone can cause mild nausea and upset stomach with or without vomiting. People may also become constipated while taking this medication. Taking this medication with food may lessen the nausea, vomiting and upset stomach. Drinking at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day may help alleviate or avoid constipation.

Other Side Effects

Acetaminophen with hydrocodone can cause a ringing in your ears, blurred vision and a dry mouth. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how acetaminophen with hydrocodone affects your ability to safely complete those activities.

Symptoms of an Allergic Reaction
