If you want a smooth, hair-free body, you can certainly achieve it. How effective or long-lasting your results will be depend on which method you use to remove your hair. You can try a variety of methods at home, go for salon treatments or choose a semipermanent or permanent method. Of course, these methods require different investments of time and money.
Step 1
Make an appointment with a laser hair removal doctor for a semipermanent solution. A beam of laser light gets shot down onto the skin with this procedure. The laser attacks the melanin and destroys the hair's root. Use laser hair removal for larger areas like your back and shoulders. You may need maintenance treatments every few months.
Step 2
Visit an electrologist to get your hair zapped out. A fine needle is inserted into each hair follicle and a surge of electricity gets sent to the tip with this procedure. The follicle then dies and the hair falls out. Choose this treatment for areas like the upper lip and chin. This is the only permanent hair removal method.
Step 3
Wash your skin with warm water and leave it wet. Apply a liberal amount of depilatory cream to your skin and let it sit for the time recommended by the manufacturer--usually five to 15 minutes. Wipe the cream and hair off with a washcloth. Your skin will be hair-free for a few days or possibly a few weeks.
Step 4
Heat wax from a home waxing kit and spread it out with the applicator tool. Place the cloth strip on top of the wax and flatten it out. Grab the edge of the cloth with one hand and press the fingers of your other hand into your skin right above it. Pull downward--forcefully--in a fast motion to remove the wax and hair. Repeat to remove hair from all the areas you want to treat. Waxing will keep your skin hair-free for several weeks.
Step 5
Trim long hairs down with a pair of shears or scissors before you shave. Wash your skin and leave it wet. Apply shaving cream and run the razor blade over your skin in short, smooth strokes. Repeat until you've removed all the hair. Wash your skin again and apply a moisturizing cream. You'll need to shave every few days, or even daily, if you want to keep your skin smooth.
Step 6
Pluck out smaller hairs with a pair of tweezers. Grasp the hair close to the skin and pull straight out in a smooth motion. Do not yank the hairs, as they can break off under the skin.
