The intestines and colon are the major organs responsible for eliminating wastes firm the body. If they should happen to get backed up or "impacted," the body would have a difficult time absorbing nutrients. As a result, you can feel fatigued. You can help push fecal matter and waste material along.
Step 1
Eliminate all the foods from your diet that can lead to constipation. This includes foods like processed meats, commercial baked goods, fast food, dairy products, candy bars, crackers, cookies and cupcakes.
Step 2
Increase your fiber intake. Fiber is a non-digestible substance that can help push along backed-up waste material in your intestines. Consume foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans to get your fiber. Aim for 20 to 35 grams of fiber every day. Select foods that are organic and free of chemicals to prevent toxins from building up.
Step 3
Drink water instead of fizzy, high-sugar drinks, like soda and beer. According to the Mayo Clinic, drinking plenty of water and other fluids will help soften your stool. Aim for at least 10 cups of water a day.
Step 4
Exercise more often to stimulate the activity of your colon. Do any form of daily exercise for 45 to 60 minutes. Walking, running, elliptical training, weight lifting, biking and playing racquetball are all examples.
Step 5
Take colon cleansing herbs to help promote evacuation, kill parasites and promote the health of your intestines. Licorice root, marshmallow root, slippery elm bark, uva ursi, wormwood powder and psyllium husks are examples.
Step 6
Visit a colon hydrotherapist to get a colonic treatment. Colon hydrotherapy is a procedure where a speculum gets inserted into your rectum. Nutrient-rich warm water then gets flushed into your colon to break up the impaction. The water pressure is then reversed, and the wastes get drawn from your system.
