Having your little one safely buckled in an infant car seat in the back will give you peace of mind whenever you're out and about. Graco offers a variety of infant car seats that meet government standards. It is paramount that the car seat is installed correctly to insure the safety of your child. The Graco infant car seat is suitable for infants who weigh between 5 to 32 lbs. and have a height less than 32 inches.

Step 1

Position the harness straps by placing your baby in the car seat. The harness slots need to be even or just below your baby's shoulder. Correct the position if necessary by removing your child and adjusting the straps by pressing the harness adjustment button located under the seat flap and placing the straps in either a higher or lower slot.

Step 2

Place the infant car seat base in a rear-facing position in the back seat of your vehicle. Open the "lock-off" on your car seat base and thread your vehicle's seat belt through the belt path and then buckle it. Push down firmly on the middle of the base and tighten the seat belt, if it's a retractable shoulder belt feed the excess back into its retractor. Lock the "lock-off" by pressing it down firmly.

Step 3

Test the car seat base installation by placing your hands on the belt path and twisting the base from side to side, the base shouldn't move more than 1 inch in any direction. If it does than you will need to tighten and adjust the seat belt until you have minimal movement.

Step 4

Adjust the base to ensure it is level by making sure your car is parked on level ground when you are installing the car seat. Look at the indicator--blue should only be visible in the window. If you see orange then you may need to adjust the recline of the base. To adjust the recline turn the orange knob on the base clockwise to lower the foot or counter-clockwise to raise the foot.

Step 5

Push the infant restraint firmly into the base making sure you hear a loud clicking noise. Pull the handle of the restraint to make sure the restraint is latched securely to the base.
