Testosterone governs many imprortant processes within the male body. Low testosterone levels can contribute to erectile dysfunction, mood swings, infertility and poor muscle growth. While many testosterone-enhancing medicinal herbs have been the subject of limited research, many men turn to them as a safer alternative to anabolic steroids and other prescription drugs. Men with persistent low testosterone levels may benefit from expert evaluation. A qualified practitioner can evaluate a man's testosterone levels and provide guidance for ongoing treatment.

Tongkat Ali

Tongkat ali is renowned for its ability to improve sexual vitality and muscle synthesis. One study, published in the medical journal "Phytomedicine", determined that rats taking tongkat ali had higher testosterone levels and more sexual interest than rats who were not exposed to the herb. This traditional aphrodisiac is an increasingly popular supplement for body-builders and men coping with andropause.

Safed Musli

Safed musli acts as a natural aphrodisiac and fertility enhancer. Modern herbalists assert that saponins found in safed musli are chemically similar to testosterone. While anecdotal reports and folk tradition support this notion, no peer-reviewed studies have yet evaluated safed musli's effect on the human endocrine system.

Tribulus Terrestris

Tribulus terrestris has been used for centuries to enhance testosterone levels. While tribulus' ability to improve libido has been well-documented, some studies have cast doubt upon its traditional use as a testosterone booster. While acknowledging that tribulus effectively improves male sexual response, the medical journal "Phytomedicine" reports that tribulus has only a minimal effect on testosterone levels in rats.
