4 Ways to Increase Low Sex Drive in Men

1. Have a Low Sex Drive?

A third of all men might come up with an inability to initiate sex. Researchers reported in a study published by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in February 1999 that poor physical and emotional health is to blame. It could be health and lifestyle factors such as alcohol consumption, prior contraction of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), presence of urinary tract symptoms, circumcision, health status and experience of emotional or stress-related problems. There are a wide range of reasons why your sex drive is at the rock bottom. Low levels of testosterone, endocrine or neurological disorders, heart disease, diabetes, Parkinson's disease, hypothyroidism, depression, family worries, anemia, arthritis, chronic pain, antidepressants, tranquilizers, antihypertensive medications, drug abuse could be some of the medical reasons.

Lack of adequate sleep, stress, unresolved conflicts, confused sexual orientation, power struggle, anger, past sexual abuse, long hours at work and infidelity are a few of the psychological and emotional issues in men with low sex drive.

2. Get Physical for Great Sex

If you are aged 60 and above but still go for regular swimming, you could be as good as a 21-year-old if it came to sex. In fact, researchers say that just about any exercise may increase sexual drive, sexual activity and sexual satisfaction. And the longer and more frequent your exercise and the higher your physical fitness could mean lot more in terms of sexual performance and sexual desirability. Exercise that improves your circulation and heart health improves your penis health. Low sex drive or impotence will be a thing of the past. So get off your ass and go for the gym or out for a run if you cannot swim. And your endorphins will perk up, your hormones will look up and you're off to a great sex tonight. It might also solve a myriad other diseases including kicking off wrong habits such as smoking and alcohol consumption.

3. Boost Your Testosterone

If you are tired easily or have difficulty obtaining an erection, it might be that your hormones are little on the lower end. So you may want to see your doctor if indeed it is your low testosterone levels to blame. If that is the case, testosterone replacement might be an option. It may take several forms: Injections every two to four weeks or patches or gels every day to your thigh, buttock or upper arm. There are also downsides to testosterone replacement. You may want to ask your doctor if it is meant for you.

4. Think Outside Your Box

You might want to try different techniques to communicate with your partner sexually and otherwise. You might need to focus on positive aspects of your relationship. You may want to show some empathy, and resolve differences with sensitivity and respect for your partner's feelings. And there are creative new ways to approach your partner. Do not hesitate to ask your doctor for more details. He might also refer you to a sex therapist, if required for complete assistance.
