You can find hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of products that promise to regrow your hair when you are bald. However, there are things you can try to regrow your hair in the comfort of your own home that will not cost you hundreds of dollars. Baldness usually strikes men who are over the age of 40 and women who have just delivered or are going through menopause. Baldness can be hereditary or the cause of improper nutrition. Baldness happens when your hair follicles become damaged. Your hair follicles produces keratin, which determines how much hair you grow. When your follicles stop producing keratin, you lose your hair. Finally, you become bald. The key to making a remedy for baldness is using the right oils, drinking lots of water and eating enough protein.
Step 1
Drink lots of water. If you don't hydrate your body, your hair follicles will not be healthy enough to produce the keratin you need to regrow your hair. The Mayo Clinic recommends drinking at least eight 8-oz. glasses of water per day.
Step 2
Drink green tea. According to the Health Journal website, green tea contains two natural dihydrotestosterone (DHT) blockers. DHT is the hormone responsible for baldness. The Health Journal website says that drinking green tea can counter your baldness. The more green tea you drink, the more DHT blockers you get into your system and the more you reduce your chances of balding. Drink at least three 8-oz. cups of green tea per day.
Step 3
Massage your scalp with olive oil. Olive oil works to clean your pores and can help regrow your hair. You expose your hair to toxins like pollution, dirt and sweat every day. Those toxins damage the hair follicles that are in charge of growing your hair. Olive oil contains Vitamin E, Vitamin D, niacin and biotin, which can help regrow your hair. Replace the conditioner you use now, which probably contains harsh chemicals, with olive oil. Olive oil can help your hair follicles produce keratin again, which will start to regrow your hair. Massage 1 tbsp. of olive oil into your hair and scalp for five minutes once a week. Leave on overnight. Rise with water in the morning.
Step 4
Make an essential oil mixture. Essential oils are used in aromatherapy to regrow your hair. In a study published by the "Archives of Dermatology," Isabelle Hay from the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in Scotland studied 86 people suffering from baldness. The study found 44 percent of the participants who used a blend of cedar wood, lavender, rosemary, thyme, jojoba oil and grapeseed oil showed significant improvements. To make the mixture, use two drops of cedarwood, three drops of lavender, three drops of rosemary, two drops of thyme, 1/2 tsp. jojoba oil and 4 tsp. grapeseed oil. Mix well. Massage into your scalp for 10 minutes before bed, and wrap your head with a towel. Leave it overnight. Wash with warm water in the morning.
Step 5
Consume protein. Eggs are a wonderful source of protein that can help regrow your hair. Eggs also contain biotin, which will help your hair follicles produce keratin and make your hair stronger. Milk, cheese, yogurt and beans also contain a lot of protein.
