Relax by Meditating

Program Description
Your pulse races, your muscles tense, and your breaths become more rapid. You are surely familiar with these common responses to stress, but did you also know meditation can reverse the body’s response to stress? To find ultimate relaxation, incorporate mediation into your daily life.

Actions
1. Find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably in an upright posture.

2. Select a meaningful word or phrase to repeat, an object to focus on, or focus solely on your breath.

3. Concentrate on this single-minded focus and exclude outside “busy” thoughts.

4. If a distracting thought enters your mind, simply return to your chosen focal point.

5. The duration of your meditation is less important than consistency; experts recommend daily practice.

6. Start with shorter sessions (less than 5 minutes) and increase session duration over time.

7. Choose a time of day that works best for you, and stick with it!
