Foltx is a combination supplement that contains vitamins B6 and B12 and folic acid. This medication is used as a food supplement to treat individuals who are lacking these essential vitamins. Foltx is especially important in the treatment of hyperhomocysteinemia (elevated homocysteine levels in the blood); individuals at risk for atherosclerotic vascular disease in their cerebral, coronary and peripheral (arms and legs) vessels; and vitamin B12 deficiency.
Foltx can be taken either orally or injected. As with all medications, there could be some side effects.

Minor Side Effects

There are a number of minor side effects an individual may experience while taking Foltx. Some of the most common side effects are nausea, stomach upset and diarrhea. It can also cause different sensations of the skin, such as itching, numbness or burning. Polycythemia vera (overproduction of red blood cells) can also be a side effect. It should be noted that Foltx can also cause drowsiness.

Serious Side Effects

Foltx, in very rare cases, can cause more severe side effects. You should notify a physician immediately if you notice mental or mood changes, such as difficulty sleeping, changes in appetite or depression. In addition, unusual weakness and fatigue can be categorized as a serious side effect of Foltx, and a physician should be notified if this occurs while being treated with this medication.

Allergic Reactions

An allergic reaction can occur if an individual has hypersensitivity to any of the three components of Foltx. Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction to Foltx include rash, swelling (of the face, tongue or throat), severe dizziness and difficulty breathing. You should contact your physician immediately if any of these symptoms occur.
