The health of your body is of the ultimate importance in functioning day to day at your best. By eliminating toxins that have built up in your body over time, your body can function at its best and you'll feel better as a whole. Detoxifying with food is a natural way to cleanse your system of toxins.

Garlic

Garlic has a strong reputation for being a healing, cleansing food. Garlic contains allicin, which is a sulphur compound. Allicin fights infection in the body. Garlic also helps to promote action in liver enzymes that filter toxins from your system.

Sesame Seeds

Sesame seeds are a good source of methionine, an amino acid that protects the liver. The liver assists in filtering toxins from the body, so it is important that it stays healthy. Methionine also helps absorb other amino acids.

Broccoli

Broccoli is often recognized as a super food. It contains a host of nutrients and also has detoxifying powers. It contains two phytochemicals called isothiocyanates and indoles. The isothiocyanates help your liver to detoxify carcinogens. The indoles help your body to break down the hormones that cause breast cancer cell growth.

Lemons

Lemons are very good food source to detoxify your body. They are high in vitamin C and antioxidants, but their beneficial traits extend beyond that. Lemons also help the body convert toxins into a form that can easily be eliminated from your body. They can also break down mucus, making it easier to flush toxins from your system.

Artichokes

Artichokes contain the antioxidant compounds silymarin and cyramin, which work to boost liver function by regenerating tissues. They also increase bile production significantly, which helps toxins be excreted through the bowels.

Apples

Apples are full of fiber, which helps to move toxins through your bowel and out of your system. Apples also contain pectin. Pectin binds to metals such as mercury and lead that may be in your colon and assist in flushing them out of your system. Pectin also helps your body get rid of food additives and toxins.

Avocados

In addition to being rich in nutrients like folate, fiber, potassium, and vitamin E, avocados also have detoxifying properties. They contain a nutrient called glutathione, which helps to eliminate alcohol from the body's system.
