Sinus pain is usually the product of pressure in your sinus cavity. This frequently occurs when you are sick, but is also common when allergies flare up. While healthy sinuses allow mucus to flow freely out of them, sinuses that become painful have likely blocked free flow of mucus, creating a painful buildup that can cause headaches and even nausea. Numerous decongestant and antihistamine medications are available to help treat this condition, but there are also natural remedies.

Step 1

Exercise frequently to strengthen your immune system and to open passageways in your sinuses and respiratory system. Light to moderate exercise of 30 minutes or more can help alleviate sinus problems -- both in the short term as well as the long term -- when done three or four times a week.

Step 2

Bring water to a boil. Mix 1 tsp. grated fresh horseradish root and lemon juice, then add 8 oz. of boiling water and a drop of honey to make a natural tea.

Step 3

Drink an herb-based, lemon balm tea to help open up your sinuses. You can drink up to four cups (32 oz.) of tea daily to help alleviate your sinus pain.

Step 4

Take echinacea supplements to alleviate sinus pain and other problems. This ancient Chinese herb aids in your body's defense against the infection causing your sinus pain. Most echinacea supplements come in a pill form to be taken orally. Consult the directions on the supplement's packaging when determining dosage.

Step 5

Place a hot towel on your face, covering the bridge of your nose, to warm your sinuses and stimulate mucus flow out of the sinus cavity.
