Sinus allergies affect millions of individuals worldwide, according to the American Academy of Otolaryngology. Sinus allergies are caused by particles in the atmosphere that enter your nasal cavities such as pollen, dust, hair, insects and microorganisms. When these tiny particles enter your nasal cavities, your immune system sends out antibodies to flush them out. This can cause excessive sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose and post-nasal drip. You can naturally get relief from sinus allergies by using a nasal irrigation kit.
Step 1
Purchase a nasal irrigation kit, such as those by Nasopure or Ayr. These kits come complete with a bulb syringe and normal saline solution and can be purchased at any leading drugstore.
Step 2
Lean forward over a sink and tilt your head so that one nostril is pointing down toward the sink. Insert the tip of the syringe just inside your nostril, making sure it goes in about an inch. Keep your mouth open and squeeze the bulb syringe gently into your nostril. Make sure to breathe through your mouth, not your nose.
Step 3
Spit out any solution that enters your mouth. The solution will go through your nasal passages and pour out of your other nostril and your mouth. Don't worry if you swallow some solution; it is harmless.
Step 4
Blow your nose gently to flush out any remaining solution in your nasal passages. Repeat the above steps for your other nostril. Throw away any remaining solution after you are done and clean the syringe and other items you used.
