Aloe vera is a plant with spiked leaves that's native to North Africa. Its leaves have a thick gel--also known as aloe vera--which has many commercial uses. Aloe vera helps soothe irritated skin and it also has several uses in hair care, including treatments for hair loss and dandruff. Aloe vera is also a common ingredient in conditioners and shampoos. You may need to use aloe vera on your hair for up to three months before you achieve the best results.
Step 1
Add ½ tsp. of aloe vera gel to your favorite powdered hair dye. This can help protect your hair from moisture loss due to the drying chemicals in hair dye. You can use aloe vera gel directly from the plant, but a commercial source will be completely stable.
Step 2
Rub aloe vera gel into your scalp as a treatment for dandruff. Leave the gel in overnight, and shampoo your hair in the morning.
Step 3
Massage aloe vera gel into your scalp to help your hair grow faster. Leave in for 30 minutes and rinse out the aloe vera. Aloe vera can increase the production of enzymes that rapid hair growth requires.
Step 4
Pour half your usual amount of shampoo into a small bowl and add twice that quantity of aloe vera gel to the bowl. Mix them together thoroughly and shampoo your hair as you normally would.
Step 5
Use only half your usual amount of conditioner and run ½ tsp. of aloe vera gel through your hair as an added conditioner. Leave the aloe vera gel in for a few minutes and rinse it out. You should only need extra conditioning if you have long hair or short hair that's very dry.
