Candida Diet Programs

Candida is a family of yeast that causes fungal infection of an array of organs, including the vagina, the penis, the central nervous system and the mouth, as shown by the National Institutes of Health. The most common locations for people with normally functioning immune systems are the oral cavity and the glans penis (in uncircumcised men). Beside anti-fungal medications, changes in a person diet are usually required to eradicate an infection.

Lower Carbohydrate Intake

The first step in a candida diet is limiting the intake of carbohydrates. Sugar is one of the essential ingredients for candida growth and denying candida the sugar it needs is very beneficial in eradicating it.

Avoid Yeast Products

Another type of food that a candida sufferer should better avoided is anything containing yeast. This includes beer, certain breads, cheese and mushrooms. Yeast products should be avoided because they can provide the candida the nutrition necessary so it can survive and grow.

Eat Beneficial Foods

One food that you should increase in your diet is sugarless yogurt. According to Functional Medicine Research Center, yogurt contained bacteria such as lactobacillus and bifidobacteria help balance the microflora, fighting off the fungal infection.
A beneficial candida diet should emphasize foods that are high in protein and healthy fats. Poultry and beef, fish, chicken, tofu, nuts and seeds should be part of a candida diet as they are a healthy source of nutrition that do not contain carbs (which are essential to candida's survival).
