Hybrid golf clubs have caused a revolution in golf. Golfers who struggle with fairway woods or long irons have gotten rid of those clubs and used the funny looking hybrid clubs with their round heads to increase their chances of hitting a good shot. Hybrids have a been a boon to medium- and high-handicap golfers who struggled with long fairway shots. Pros and top amateurs also use the hybrids because it gives them more options.

Comfortable Stance

One of the keys to hitting your hybrid club effectively is to have a comfortable stance. Make sure your left shoulder (for right-handed golfer) is facing the green. Your left foot needs to be directly underneath your left shoulder. Your feet should be shoulder-width apart and your knees should be slightly bent in an athletic position. With most golf clubs, a golfer should play the ball midway in the stance or slightly closer to the front foot. But with a hybrid club, the golfer needs to play the ball closer to the back foot.

Hit Down on the Ball

Hit down on the ball with a hybrid club to make it go up. This is a principle of physics that is especially true for hybrids because of the wide and round nature of the club head. When you strike a ball with a descending blow with a hybrid, you will send the ball soaring into the air with a straight and true flight plan.

Swing Speed

To hit the hybrid correctly, use the same swing speed you do with a normal iron or wood. One of the mistakes that golfers make when they start using hybrids is they slow their swing in order to help them place the club head on the ball. This causes loss of power because the club head speed at impact is diminished. The hybrid club has a lower center of gravity and it will compensate for any imperfection in the swing.
