Crohn's Disease Homeopathic Remedies

Homeopathic remedies can be extremely beneficial to patients with chronic conditions like Crohn's disease. To determine the appropriate homeopathic remedy for your condition, you must pay close attention to specific symptoms. There are thousands of different remedies, so when prescribing for yourself, make sure you listen to your body, be aware of the location and type of pain (dull, cutting, burning) and notice what makes your symptoms better or worse (position, time of day, heat, pressure).

Belladonna

Symptoms leading to a Belladonna homeopathic prescription include a distended, swollen, hot abdomen with cutting pain across the belly. The lower abdomen typically has a squeezing, constrictive sensation. An extreme sensitivity to touch and worsening symptoms following pressure or jarring of the abdomen further indicate this remedy.

Mercurius Corrosivus

This remedy is used when the region near the appendix (lower right abdomen) has a bruised sensation. A cutting sensation before, during and after bowel movements and painful flatulence are additional symptoms helped by Mercurius Corrosivus. Symptoms are worse at night, and the region is painful to the slightest touch.

Lachesis

Lachesis is indicated for Crohn's patients with a cutting or tearing pain on the right side of the abdomen. The slightest touch increases pain to the point that even the weight of clothes against the abdomen becomes unbearable.

Silica

When a painful, cold sensation occurs in the abdomen and is made better by external heat, this is likely the remedy needed. Typically, pain is made worse by eating and is better after a bowel movement.

Bryonia

Bryonia is the best remedy when there is a sudden, cutting sensation in the abdomen causing you to bend over double. Stitching pain, made worse by coughing, breathing or pressure, and heaviness in the abdomen are additional indications for Bryonia.
