A part of keeping your breasts supple and beautiful is taking care of the skin in the area. The breasts can become dry and itchy if you don't follow a good skin care regimen. Another part of caring for breast skin is checking for any changes you may notice. Skin changes, like lumps, redness, scaling and dimples, should be reported to your doctor. According to the National Cancer Institute, these changes may be normal, but could also signify a more serious condition, like breast cancer.

Step 1

Perform a breast self-exam monthly. During the exam, look at the skin to note any changes that have occurred since your last exam. Massage the breasts with your two index fingers while lying on your side. Check for any lumps or firm areas beneath the skin's surface. Repeat the examination for each breast. Call your doctor if you find anything unusual.

Step 2

Wear a properly fitting bra. Next time you go bra shopping, request to be measured. A bra that does not fit can irritate the skin. To measure breast size for a bra, measure just under your breasts for back size and then around your breasts for cup size.

Step 3

Reduce the time you spend in the shower or bath. Long, hot showers and baths can dry out the skin and rob it of its protective oils. Limit bathing times to less than 15 minutes and use warm water.

Step 4

Lock in skin moisture by slathering on a moisturizer right after bathing. While your skin is slightly wet, rub a moisturizing cream into the skin of the breasts. Choose a lotion that is fragrance-free.

Step 5

Wash your clothing, including your bras, in mild soap. Harsh detergents used on bras can irritate the breast skin. Specially formulated lingerie washes are typically most appropriate for your bras.
