No one likes having a bad hair day. Unfortunately, if you have hair that is naturally frizzy, you may be experiencing bad hair days all too often. Don't despair, however, there are a number of ways you can care for your hair to bring out its best qualities and downplay its tendency to be frizzy.

Shampooing

Shampoo cleans your hair by washing out dirt and oil, but it also strips your hair of beneficial natural oils that keep your hair shiny and frizz-free. You should wash your hair using shampoo no more than two times per week so that you do not dry it out. Use a shampoo designed specifically for dry, curly or wavy hair that will provide you with moisture while still cleaning your hair.

Conditioning

Condition your hair after every time you shampoo and each time you rinse your hair. Conditioner will replace oil in your hair and lock in moisture. In addition to normal conditioning, use a deep-conditioning treatment once per week to keep your hair smooth. Always rinse conditioner out of your hair at the end of your shower with cold water; this will make your hair as shiny as possible.

Detangling

When you finish washing your hair, you may be tempted to detangle it with a comb or brush. Instead, use your fingers to work through your hair while it is wet. Your hair will be far less frizzy if you do this before it dries.

Products

If you need extra help controlling frizz, you can use products created specially for de-frizzing. These products, such as pomades, gels, creams and serums, can be used on both wet and dry hair. Experiment with them to find the right product and best amount for your hair that makes it look smooth and clean.

Nutrition

Many people forget that one of the most important factors in maintaining healthy hair is maintaining a healthy diet. Eat a variety of foods rich in vitamins and minerals to promote strong, healthy hair growth.

Haircuts

Find a hairdresser who has experience cutting hair that has a tendency to frizz. Get frequent trims. Your hair stylist should be familiar with ways of trimming that will work with your hair's texture to alleviate frizz.

Don'ts

Take care of your hair by treating it naturally. Avoid harsh chemicals. Avoid dying your hair which will cause it to be even more dried out and frizzy. Don't blow dry or straighten your hair constantly at high heat levels, as this will also cause more damage. Allow your hair to air dry naturally after shampooing, conditioning and adding product.
