It's normal to develop wrinkles under your eyes over time, but they can pop up prematurely due to being tired, stressed, having allergies or even being exposed to too much sun. And though they might just be a part of life, you don't have to accept the wrinkles under your eyes. There are treatments available to rid yourself of these unsightly lines and crevices once and for all.
Step 1
Apply a sunscreen with at least SPF 15 each day, including to the under eye area. This will prevent sun damage. Try to find a combination sunscreen and moisturizer to keep the skin under your eyes hydrated and to make your lines and wrinkles less noticeable.
Step 2
Try to get enough sleep each night. Most adults require between 7 and 8 hours of sleep each night to feel fully rested. Getting enough sleep can make your eyes look brighter and make lines beneath your eyes less pronounced.
Step 3
Apply a topical retinoid to your under eye wrinkles. Treatments like Retin-A, which is available by prescription, are made from vitamin A and help slough off the top layers of skin with regular use, making your wrinkles less defined and even erasing them over time.
Step 4
Have injectable treatments used around your eyes. Your dermatologist will be able to recommend the most appropriate treatment for your wrinkles. Fillers can make the skin beneath your eyes look plumper, while Botox will paralyze the facial muscles, making your wrinkles disappear. Regardless, you'll need to have these treatments injected every few months to maintain the smoother results.
Step 5
Have the wrinkles beneath your eyes surgically removed. An eye lift will involve the removal of the skin beneath your eyes to pull it tighter and make the wrinkles disappear. Other more mild treatments can also be used like laser resurfacing and dermabrasion, both of which take off the top layer of skin to stimulate new tissue growth and collagen production, making your skin smoother and more supple with repeated treatments.
