5 Things You Need to Know About Choosing Breast Augmentation Size

1. Thumb Through Nude Pics

The best way to figure out what breast size you want is to look at nude pictures of other women. Look for straight on and profile shots of the breasts and clip them out so you can bring them to your doctor. Also cut out pictures of breasts that you consider too small and too large. Playboy's website is a good place to start. Ask your surgeon to show you before and after pictures, so you can see his work and check out the various sizes. Ask if he has access to computer enhancement. If so, play around with different breast sizes to see which look best on your body.

2. It's in the Bag

Use a ziplock bag to get an idea of what your breast implants will look like. Fill the bag or the foot part of pantyhose with bird seed or rice. The rule of thumb is that a 250 ml implant is equal to one cup or pint of rice or seed. Tie off the bag and put it in your bra. This works best if you wear a sports bra because it will slightly flatten the bag. Put on a shirt and check out the results. Once you find a size you like, record the amount for your surgeon. He will convert it into cc's so you can determine your breast enlargement size. He may add 10 to 15 percent because implants tend to be fuller and rounder.

3. Shop

Go shopping for lingerie before you decide on a breast size. If, for instance, you want a 34DDD but realize that Victoria's Secret only goes up to DD sizes, you may want to go slightly smaller. That way, you can find bras and lingerie that look great. If not, you may have to shop online or in specialty stores.

4. Consider Your Cleavage

Cleavage is an important thing to consider when choosing your breast size. If your surgeon places your breast implants too far apart, there won't be much cleavage. If they're closer together, you'll get a lot of cleavage to show off. Tell your doctor how much cleavage you want. The amount that you can have will not depend solely on your breast size and where your implants are placed, but also on your starting size and the size of your rib cage.

5. Try Them On For Size

So many other factors go into breast size that the same size breasts will look different from one woman to the next. Your body shape, height and other factors all make a difference. Take into account your body type and the size of your frame when selecting your breast size. If you have a large frame or broad shoulders, you'll probably look good with larger breasts. If you're thin or narrow on top, you'll look top-heavy with those same breasts. You may also get backaches from the weight of them. Wear a sports bra to your surgeon's office. Try on various implants in front of a mirror. Bring a bathing suit, dresses or other tops to see how your larger breasts will look in your favorite clothes. Some surgeons suggest that you pick an implant one size larger then whatever looks good in the mirror, because the implants will look smaller after they settle.
