5 Things You Need to Know About Triangle Bow Pose

1. Health Benefits from the Triangle Bow Pose

Trikona-asana, the triangle bow pose or triangle posture's name comes from the Sanskrit for three and angle. Another name for the pose is the utthita trikona-asana, which means stretched triangle. Some of the many benefits of this pose are relief of back pain with the stretching of the spine and reduction in flatulence and gastritis.

2. Starting Position for Utthita Trikon-asana

Begin the posture with the feet together and the arms at the sides, fingertips pointing down. Open the legs by separating the feet beyond shoulder width. Inhale deeply as you raise both arms and move them parallel to the floor. Keep the palms downward when you do this.

3. Pay Attention to Breathing

Turn the body to the side. In this instance we begin by turning left. Exhale as slowly as you turn. When the arms are perpendicular to the body, begin to bend downward at the waist and continue to turn. Touch the right hand on the side of the left ankle. The left hand should be straight in the air. Keep the knees straight and move slowly. The arms should remain a continuous line.

4. Release Your Problems with Trikona-asana

Turn the head upward, away from the hand on the ankle and look to the sky. Hold the pose and relax the body. Focus on the fingertips in the air and release any problems of the day through the fingertips into outer space as you inhale and return to the original position with the arms parallel to the floor. Step the feet back together.

5. Get Rid of Stress with the Triangle Bow Pose and Visualization

Begin the movement turning to the opposite direction and dropping the other arm to touch the ankle of the opposite foot. Continue the same movement and breathing as you did the first direction. Pause and release the mind of problems and feel the movement of each individual muscle as you complete the exercise. Visualize your problems as an object shot from the barrel of the finger for a stronger more vivid impact on the mind. If back pain is a problem, feel the muscles massage as you move toward the ankle and shoot the pain out of the body into the atmosphere.
