The Special K diet, or Special K Challenge, was designed by registered dietitians employed by Kellogg's. The purpose is to encourage the consumption of foods from the grain group, while promoting their cereal products and providing you a way to jump-start a weight-loss program. There are four basic meal plans. Each plan is designed to help you implement a program based on your lifestyle. The 14-day menu incorporates a variety of Kellogg products you eat throughout the day. The anticipated weight loss is up to 6 lbs.

Daily Meals and Snacks

The Special K diet includes three meals a day and two snacks. Two of the meals and two of the snacks consist of one of the many Kellogg food products including cereals, protein shakes, protein meal bars, crackers, protein snack bars and protein water mixes. The third meal consists of a regular meal with recommendations for choosing a healthy balance that is low in fat and high in fiber. The plan can be individualized according to your lifestyle.

Classic Plan

Using the daily meal and snack guideline, this plan is geared towards people who want the essentials and love the classic or familiar Kellogg products. This 14-day menu includes the original Special K cereal, cereal bars, protein shakes and whole grain crackers. These classic items are put together with healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, low fat dairy and low fat meat options.

Mix it Up Plan

The Mix it Up Plan is perfect for people who love variety and yet stay within the daily meal and snack guideline. This 14-day menu includes trendy food flavors from honey, cinnamon, yogurt, mocha, a variety of fruits, nuts and chocolate. These flavors and food items might be a part of a meal replacement bar, in a protein shake or incorporated into a cereal. These trendy items are then put together with healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy and low-fat meat options.

On the Go Plan

Following the basic meal and snack guideline, the On the Go Plan is specifically designed for busy moms and those who travel, providing a more "on the go" way to follow the program. This 14-day menu includes more products that are easy to carry with you, such as snack bars, meal replacement bars, protein shakes and cracker varieties. In addition, one meal is a regular meal with recommendations for a variety of fruits and vegetables, low-fat meat, and low-fat dairy options.

Chocolate Lover's Plan

Using the basic meal and snack guidelines, this plan incorporates foods containing chocolate to help satisfy those who want to start a diet and find it impossible to give up the chocolate and sweets. This 14-day menu includes a variety of cereal-based desserts, chocolate-flavored cereals, cereal snack bars dipped or made with chocolate, chocolate protein shakes and meal replacement bars with peanuts and/or pretzels. These chocolaty and dessert type items are then put together with healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy and low-fat meat options.
