The lactic acid commonly found in milk is effective in cleansing the skin, reducing fine lines and removing dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, notes the "Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology." Using milk as a cleansing agent can firm the skin while diminishing the appearance of wrinkles for younger-looking and fresher-looking skin.

Step 1

Pour a cup of milk into a microwavable bowl and set in the microwave for no more than 30 seconds. You want the milk to be lukewarm to the touch, but not hot, since you'll be putting it on your face.

Step 2

Remove the bowl from the microwave. Dip your entire washcloth into the bowl so that it becomes completely saturated with the milk. Lift the washcloth out of the bowl and squeeze to remove most of the excess milk.

Step 3

Tilt your head back and drape the wet washcloth over your entire face. Allow the washcloth to rest on your skin for at least five minutes. The lactic acid in the milk exfoliates dead skin cells and dissolves dirt and oil.

Step 4

Remove the washcloth from your face and rinse with cool water. Discard the leftover milk from the bowl, or dip the washcloth again and complete the same steps for other parts of your body that need cleansing and moisturizing, like your hands, elbows or even your feet.

Step 5

Cleanse your face with milk. After washing your face with your regular cleanser, wet a cotton ball with milk and gently wash your face with it.
