You might be able to clearly identify dark, puffy circles under your eyes, but it can be difficult to figure out the cause: They can be the result of allergies, age, heredity, lack of sleep or diet. Whether you've just woken up and discovered your puffy eyes for the first time, or you've suffered from chronically puffy eyes for years, you can temporarily hide them with items from home. If puffy eyes do not respond to at-home care or they are accompanied by other symptoms, consult a doctor.

Step 1

Apply two cold teabags to the puffy area. Teabags contain tannins, which can help tighten skin and reduce swelling.

Step 2

Place two spoons in the freezer before bed. In the morning, hold the cupped area of the spoon to your closed eyes for 10 minutes to minimize swelling and constrict blood vessels to help lighten the dark area.

Step 3

Press your face with your fingers to help speed up drainage. Using your ring fingers, gently press the area, starting with the inner corner of your eyes and working to the outer corners. Gently press up to your temple and down to your jawbone to encourage drainage of the puffiness.

Step 4

Dab witch hazel under your eyes, recommends makeup artist Shalini Vadhera in "Cosmopolitan" magazine. Witch hazel is a natural astringent and can help reduce puffiness.

Step 5

Dab concealer under your eyes. To offset the dark, puffy circles under your eyes, use a concealer that is slightly lighter than the color of your skin.

Step 6

Apply dark eyeliner and mascara to help draw attention away from the puffy eye area, recommends makeup artist Dara Klein in "Cosmopolitan" magazine.
