The last few months before a wedding is a stressful time for brides-to-be, grooms-to-be, in-laws and members of the wedding party. All eyes are on the wedding party, especially the soon-to-be married couple. Everyone wants to look their best at a wedding and many people want accomplish that by losing weight. There are many challenges to losing weight before your own wedding, including cake tasting, dining with in-laws and the stress of planning the big event. With time and persistence, it's possible to lose weight before your wedding so that you can look your very best on your special day.

Step 1

Increase your physical activity level by doing cardiovascular exercise and strength training. The Mayo Clinic recommends doing 30 to 60 minutes of physical activity almost every day in order to burn extra calories and lose weight. Such cardiovascular exercise as running, swimming or dancing burns the most calories each time you exercise, but resistance training builds muscle that burns calories at rest. Buy resistance bands or free weights in order to build muscle and burn fat in your home.

Step 2

Eat more often instead of skipping meals or snacks. Dawn Jackson Blatner, registered dietitian and spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association, explains on the website Brides.com that eating often boosts your metabolism so that you can lose weight easier. Eating frequent snacks doesn't mean that you should be consuming excessively large portions, however. Brides.com recommends eating 150 to 200 calorie snacks every three to four hours. An apple and a tablespoon of peanut butter or celery sticks with a quarter cup of hummus dip may be all that you need to keep your energy levels and metabolism up.

Step 3

Replace fattening foods such as French fries, burgers, chips and candy with natural, whole foods such as fruits and vegetables. Connie Gutterson, a registered dietitian and author, explains on Brides.com that lean proteins such as chicken breasts and fish, along with fruits, vegetables and healthy fats such as olive oil and avocados will help you to lose weight before the wedding. Such whole grains as brown rice and 100 percent whole wheat bread will help you to feel full so that you don't overeat.

Step 4

Find an activity that you enjoy that will keep you busy so that you don't eat when you're stressed out. There will be many times that your nerves about the wedding or planning issues will make you want to overeat. The Mayo Clinic explains that doing something that you enjoy, instead of eating, will help you reduce stress without gaining weight. Knitting, reading, walking, drawing or calling a friend can all keep you busy and prevent you from overeating.
