The stars of Hollywood flaunt their slim physiques on movies and television. The rest of the world watches, wondering, "How do they do it?" One diet claims to know the secret: the Hollywood Miracle Diet. But this glamorous image is the best part of the diet, as the negative outweighs any positive aspects.

24 Hours Would Be a "Miracle"

The Hollywood Diet has two options: the 24-hour plan or the 48-hour plan. Product claims tout that up to 5 lbs. can be lost in a mere day. While a juice fast can help kick off a weight-loss plan, it's virtually impossible to lose that much weight that fast.

Hungry for More

The Hollywood Diet is extremely low in calories. This extreme calorie restriction is not recommended by health practitioners. With no food to break down in the digestive system, the drinks in this diet will be quickly digested. Most likely this will leave the dieter hungry and looking for a snack. The extreme depletion can also leave the dieter tired, grumpy, cloudy-minded and not able to carry out his usual activities. In her book "Stop Gaining Weight," Dr. Laura Pawlak warns that severe calorie restriction can cause significant drops in serotonin, the neurotransmitter that helps us feel calm and happy. Pawlak also notes that eating enough calories is a key aspect of long-term weight loss.

Water Weighs In

This type of quick weight loss is primarily water loss. The body hasn't had time to break down fat efficiently, so any weight loss is usually only temporary. The overpriced vitamins in a bottle may seem healthy, but they won't produce the "miracle" body changes these dieters are expecting.
