Homeopathic arnica montana, commonly known as arnica, has been widely used in medicinal purposes for centuries. Quite often, arnica is the first remedy used in acute trauma--specifically injuries that involve bruising, sprains and head contusions--and after surgeries. Homeopathic remedies are available in many potencies: 6c, 30c and 200c. Arnica 30c is an ideal potency to start with.

Gently stir the water with a plastic spoon until pellets have dissolved. Using the plastic spoon, place 1 teaspoon of the water under the tongue.
Take 3 pellets of arnica 30c or 1 teaspoon of the arnica liquid every 15 minutes. Do not do this for more than 3 hours. If symptoms have not subsided, a visit to the doctor's office is highly recommended.
