Baking ice hockey skates is a process by which the leather in inner foam lining can be formed to an athlete’s foot. Forming an ice hockey skate not only prevents injury, it can also result in increased performance. Follow a few easy steps to achieve the perfectly fitting pair of ice hockey skates.
Turn on the oven and set the temperature to 180 degrees F. Once the oven has reached this temperature, turn the heat off.
Loosen the laces on the skates, or even remove them completely. Place the skates on a baking sheet, and place in the oven. Keep the skates in the oven for eight to 10 minutes, checking regularly to make sure they are becoming soft.
Put on the skates and lace them up very tightly, starting at the bottom of the skate and carefully moving up the boot to the top.
Remain seated wearing the skates with the blades flat on the floor for about 15 minutes. Carefully remove the skates, and wait for 24 hours before skating in them.
