You don't have to wait until you see a wrinkle to perform facial toning exercises. Facial exercises help keep the muscles in the face, neck and jaw toned. To keep the face toned, you need to keep facial muscles active through exercise as you do other parts of your body. Daily exercise for the face helps you maintain healthy skin tone, tight skin and firm muscle structure, which helps prevent sagging skin, wrinkles and tired, sagging cheeks. A few simple exercises everyday, or several times a day, can offer men and women, regardless of age, improvement in muscle tone, strength and health.
Lips and Mouth
If you want to reduce the appearance of creases along the mouth and upper lip wrinkles, as well as tighten the entire mouth area, you can perform the following simple exercise in the privacy of your home, several times a day. Stick your thumb into your mouth, like you're sucking your thumb, suggests Fitness Health Zone. Now, really suck on the thumb, drawing it as far into your mouth as you can. Hold that contraction. Then, slowly try to pull your finger out of your mouth, keeping your lips tight around the finger the entire time. Do this exercise five to 10 times a day to firm all the muscles around the mouth, as well as the lips.
Firming the Neck
Reduce sagging jowl lines or that turkey wattle under the chin by performing daily neck exercises that strengthen and tone neck and jaw muscles. Sit or stand up straight, and then lean your head backward, as far as you can, with your eyes focused on the ceiling. Then, try to lift your lower lip over your upper lip, and hold it there for about 10 seconds. Relax. Repeat this lip-lifting exercise 10 times. You'll really feel this one all along the front of the neck and under the jaw.
Eye Exercises
To keep your eyes looking vibrant, alert and fresh, and to reduce or slow the appearance of wrinkles, bags under the eyes or drooping eyelids, you can tone your muscles by performing a blinking exercise, at least once a day. You can do it more as your coordination and eye strength increase. Start with the left eye. Close the eye, as if you're sending a wink, but keep it closed for a second or two, and then open. Repeat this 50 times, suggests Tom Haggarty of Shape Your Face. You may not be able to do 50 to start, but gradually work up to it.
Another eye exercise has you press the fingers of each hand at the temples, slightly outside the eyebrows. Gently press the fingers away from the eyes, and close or blink the eyes tightly, holding the contraction for a second or two before relaxing and repeating. Do this 10 and 20 times.
