Dark circles can make you look tired and older, but a lightened, brightened eye area can take years off your appearance. Some of the most common causes of dark circles under the eyes are lack of sleep, heredity and thinning skin from aging or sun damage. There are a few natural ways to treat the problem.
Cucumbers
One of the most popular natural ways to treat dark circles is with cucumber, which has an anti-inflammatory effect. Place thin slices of cucumber on your eyes and lie down for 15 minutes a day.
Tea Bags
Another popular home remedy for dark circles is cold tea bags. Squeeze the tea out of the bags before putting them on your eyes. Lie down to apply. The caffeine helps eliminate water from the tissues around your eyes. Tea also contains antioxidants that are good for your skin. Use green, black or white tea.
Lemon and Tomato Juice
Apply a lemon-tomato juice paste. Combine 1 tsp. of tomato juice, 1/2 tsp. of lemon juice,1 tsp. of flour and a pinch of turmeric powder. Put the paste on your dark circles twice a day for 10 minutes.Then rinse with cool water and pat dry.
Almond Oil
Almond oil softens the skin around your eyes, which will help reduce dark circles. Gently massage the oil under your eyes before going to bed.
Lifestyle Changes
Get sufficient rest, at least eight hours. Drink plenty of water,especially if you drink alcohol. Dehydration can cause cause dark circles.
