Basketball Rebounding

What Is a Dead Ball Rebound in Basketball?

A rebound usually occurs when a player shoots the ball without scoring. Either the shooting teams receives the ball back or the defensive team gets the ball and goes on offense. A dead ball is one that is no longer in play because, for one reason or another, official time has stopped; a dead ball rebound occurs when no rebound has occurred prior to the ball being dead and the rules dictate that one team or the other receive the ball on offense.
