3 Helpful Food & Fitness Mobile Apps on LIVESTRONG
By JESS BARRON
Anyone who knows me pretty well (or is following me on Twitter!), is well aware that I use the Strava mobile apps on my iPhone whenever I go running or biking to track my speed and my mileage, and to see if I can beat my speed records.
It’s no secret that mobile apps can help you track your progress and achieve greater success with your fitness (such as running and cycling speeds) and nutrition goals. A few months back when I talked to Ashley Donahoo about how she used LIVESTRONG.COM to lose 137 pounds, one of the tips she gave was that she and her husband had downloaded and used the MyPlate mobile app on their mobile phones. This allowed them to track their foods and exercise on-the-go.
Whether you’re already a fan of food and fitness mobile apps or you haven’t tried any yet, here are 3 helpful apps from LIVESTRONG.COM that you might want to check out:
If you have an iPhone, you may be interested to hear that Demand Media (LIVESTRONG.COM‘s parent company) has just launched a water tracking app: MyWater, which you can find on iTunes. I downloaded this app last week, and I found it to be pretty helpful. I particularly liked that you can set it so that your mobile phone will give you daily reminders to track your water and to remind me to drink more at specific intervals. You can also choose your container size and/or create custom container sizes to accurately reflect the amount of water that you have consumed each time you refill your container.
This is the app that Ashley Donahoo and her husband both use. It’s available for iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Mobile, and Blackberry. If you’re already using MyPlate on your desktop computer, the app is a great tool that makes it super-convenient to track your meals and snacks while on-the-go, out at restaurants, while traveling, etc.
3. Need to quit smoking or know someone else who does? Check out LIVESTRONG’s MyQuit Coach – Dare to Quit Smoking Mobile App.
Have you tried any of these apps and had questions about them? OR, do you have other favorite fitness and food mobile apps? If so, leave a comment below, and let me know. I’ll respond with any tips I might have. AND, later this year we are planning a round up of all top food and fitness apps out there.
