5 Tips to Make This Weekend Your Best Ever!


It's Saturday morning. Do you savor every moment? Or do you find yourself chasing your to-do list all the way to Sunday night?

When I made a commitment to live my days through the Active Living philosophy, I began to fall in love with the little things in life.

Here are my secrets to seeking out all that is extraordinary in your life, living in the here and now and creating your own kind of magic every weekend.

1. Wake Up with the Sun
For many of us, weekends are an alarm-free zone. But the way I see it - when you wake up an hour earlier, you live an hour more! Of course, rising early starts with your routine the night before. Be prepared, lay out your most active outfit, and read a chapter of an inspiring book before bed. My tip for a good night's sleep is to stay hydrated, so keep a water bottle by your bed to feel refreshed and ready as soon you wake up.

2. Exercise As You Go
If you spend your weekend at work, on the road or running errands - making it to Saturday morning boot camp isn't so easy. My favorite way to live active is to incorporate exercise into whatever I have planned for the busy day ahead. Why not organize a hike rather than a lunch date, or walk to your appointment instead of driving? My weekend outfits take me from workouts to days out on-the-go, so I can spend more time doing the things I love.

3. Make Time for Discovery
You don't have to book a holiday or beach trip to enjoy a beautiful weekend. Let yourself get a little bit lost on your morning run, join a yoga session in a different neighborhood or attempt the sushi recipe you've always wanted to conquer. Try something new, and you'll feel so alive!

4.  Hit the Farmers Markets
This is a weekend ritual for my "Move, Nourish, Believe" women. Visit your local market and stock up on whole, fresh foods (I always fill my bag with loads of vegetables and salads). Don't forget to grab a bunch of bananas for the perfect oatmeal topping!

5. Enjoy Time With Your Gal-Pals
Sometimes we need a little bit of sisterhood wisdom - there's nothing more refreshing than spending time with the women who mean the most to you. Plan a healthy cooking day with family, go for a walk-and-talk with your sporty sisters or invite a new friend to your boxing class.
