Favorite part of LIVESTRONG.COM: I use LOOPS when I go for a run or ride. I also like checking out what my friends and teammate are eating in the food feed.

Favorite motivational tip: “We can create the life we want. If you don't like the life you have, change it. You already have everything you need inside of you. Decide what kind of life you want and then just keep taking the next right step and you will ultimately get there.”  - from “Heather’s LIVESTRONG.COM Success Story”

My job is to make sure that we back-end livestrong engineers are working together to provide a solid technical foundation for all the amazing ideas the team has to keep improving site and mobile apps. The most interesting challenge is to find ways to make the site faster and more reliable even as the number of visitors to the site is growing rapidly.

Favorite part of LIVESTRONG.COM: MyPlate! I love how little you have to do to start getting lots of useful personalized information about your diet and exercise.

Favorite motivational tip: Just about any user comment on the Dare to Quit Smoking page. I love that this is literally saving lives, and how people jump in and congratulate and support each other in kicking their addiction, that fact alone is motivational to me, it makes all the work on the app worthwhile a thousand times over. Seriously sit and read that page for a few minutes, it will put a huge smile on your face.

Favorite part of LIVESTRONG.COM: The community. The diversity of people who care about health, fitness, and nutrition is inspiring. It doesn’t matter if you’re a mom trying to lose baby weight, a guy trying to pack on muscle, or someone who just discovered exercise. It’s a supportive group of people who all are searching for the same thing: Inspiration and a way to improve their lives.

Favorite motivational tip: I’ll leave you with two thoughts:
“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”

I’m the go-to for all people on the site. It’s a fun job, and no one does it better than me.

Favorite part of LIVESTRONG.COM: MyPlate and tracking are my favorites…I love that I can enter my fitness manually – kinda nerdy.

Your favorite motivational tip: The only bad workout is the one you miss. Eat real food. Workout with a buddy – no excuses – total accountability.

I'm in the middle between UI, IT, content, QA, and product.  I've got to know how to make it work, keep it working, and know why we're doing it too.  We're constantly writing new algorithms and using the latest developments in data processing technology to keep everything up and running.  If you happen to see things that don't work quite right, we know about it, and we're working on new ways of making things fast, scalable, and reliable.  I'd love to make everything perfect right now, but if we spend too much time in one area, then other things are neglected, and if we spend all our time evenly then things happen more slowly.  It's a tricky balance.  Our biggest problem is that we are just too popular.  You've all created billions of records for us in MyPlate, and we're doing our best to serve it to each one of you instantly whether you're using our site, or a mobile app.

Favorite part of LIVESTRONG.COM: The water glass under Daily Water Consumption. I really like the picture.  It's so crystal clear and refreshing. Just thinking about it makes me drink lots of water at work every day. You thought I was going to say some data report or something right?

Your favorite motivational tip: When you're practicing, quantity is more important. But when you're doing quality is more important.  So when you dream, dream big!  Then break it down into really small tasks (quantity).  Do those small tasks the best way possible (quality).  Way off in the future, when you sum it up, everything will be awesome.  It happens faster than it looks when you are planning.
