The Caltons share their passion for nutritional and lifestyle medicine as published authors and media experts. Mira Calton CN, is a certified nutritionist and fitness chef. Prior to becoming a nutritionist, Mira owned and ran a successful public relations firm in Manhattan. Her PR career came to an abrupt halt when she was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis at the age of 30. No longer able to run the firm that she had worked so hard to build, Mira went on a mission outside of the traditional medical community to find an answer to her dismal diagnosis. Her drive and determination led her all the way to Orlando, Florida where she met nutritional theorist Jayson Calton Ph.D., a doctor of human nutrition with over a decade of experience, teaching his unique nutritional and lifestyle therapies to adults and children with obesity, diabetes, high triglycerides, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, cancer, heart disease, and numerous other debilitating health conditions and diseases. The two worked together to create a drug-free, micronutrient-based (vitamin and mineral) program, which not only completely reversed Mira's advanced osteoporosis in just two years, but also inspired them both to make the study of micronutrient deficiency the focus of their lives. In 2005 the Caltons were married and set sail on an unconventional honeymoon, a 100-country, 7-continent, 6-year global expedition they called "The Calton Project." Their goal was to observe people from vastly different regions in remote, semi-remote, and urban settings, to discover how specific dietary patterns and lifestyle choices affected the development of modern disease. The culmination of this research led them to write their first book “Naked Calories,” a guide to building a sufficiency in essential vitamins and minerals in order to prevent and reverse debilitating health conditions and diseases, maximize weight loss and enhance one’s life. In 2012, after 6 years of research and development the Caltons launched nutreince, a reinvention of the multivitamin. Nutreince is the only product on the market to use the Caltons’ patent pending Anti-Competition Technology, which identifies and eliminates over 45 competitions between micronutrients resulting in increased absorption and utilization. The Caltons’ latest book “Rich Food, Poor Food: The Ultimate Grocery Purchasing System (GPS)” helps readers identify the most micronutrient “Rich Foods” in every aisle of the grocery store, while also avoiding over 150 “Poor Food” ingredients such as pesticides, GMOs, synthetic hormones, wheat, sugar and known carcinogens. The Caltons are currently working on their third book 4SEASONSFORLIFE, to be published in 2014. As the founders of Calton Nutrition and the Calton Institute of Lifestyle Medicine, offering the Certified Micronutrient Specialist (CMS) Professional Certificate Program, the Caltons work together as columnists, contributing editors and experts quoted in multiple publications and media outlets, including FOX and FRIENDS, Happening Now, America Live, Headline News, SHAPE, Dr. Steve, Cosmopolitan, Readers Digest, LIVESTRONG, The Daily Buzz, Daytime, NBC, ABC, Body Checklist, AOL Travel, Prevention, and many more. In addition the Caltons write their blog, Optimal Life, which covers a variety of nutritional and health related topics including diet, supplementation, weight loss, fitness, and wellness travel. The Caltons bring personal experience, passion and knowledge to two important subjects people are just beginning to buzz about – food quality and the overwhelming health benefits of a micronutrient sufficient lifestyle.
