Give 100% this holiday season!

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Nike and Lance Armstrong partnered on a LIVESTRONG Collection holiday gift guide that allows holiday shoppers to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) and the ongoing battle to overcome cancer.

The collection includes running and training footwear, apparel, and accessories, and 100% of Nike’s profits from the collection go to the LAF. Nike and Lance have united with LAF supporters Evan Handler, Ben Harper, Elle Fanning, Susan Sarandon, Forrest Whitaker, Lisa Leslie, Hillary Duff, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Dana Delany, Masi Oka, Mark Parker and Robin Roberts, all of whom appear in the gift guide.

As part of the Give 100% promotion, Nike is sponsoring a contest where you can help us identify someone in your life who consistently gives 100%. Whether it’s fundraising, fighting cancer, or being an advocate in the community, tell us about that person for their chance to spend a day with one of the remarkable individuals listed above. (You can read all the rules here.) You can also see some exclusive videos from the photo shoot.

So, tell us about someone you know who Gives 100%! And don’t forget to browse the LIVESTRONG Collection – 100% of the profits go straight to the LAF.

More on Lance’s return

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Chris Brewer from the Lance Armstrong Foundation has a great post up about the day the LAF learned of Lance’s return to competitive cycling.

And with that, Lance quickly said, “Yes, I am coming back to the sport of professional cycling and intend to win the Tour de France.” To say there was an audible hush in the room would be an understatement. But then Lance went on to detail that this was not a decision made in a vacuum. He had consulted his closest advisors, friends, and ultimately his children and their mother, and all had responded unequivocally with a hearty, “YES!” And so it begins…

Yup, Lance is re-joining the Tour!

As some have speculated, Lance Armstrong has announced that he’s un-retiring.

Great blog post from Lance

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

LIVESTRONG.COM Advisory Board Chairman Lance Armstrong wrote a great blog post about the launch of this site:

LIVESTRONG.COM is not just another web site packed with health information and expert advice. In my opinion, there is plenty of information already out there and furthermore, sitting at your desk surfing the web is not the key to a healthy, active life. LIVESTRONG.COM aspires to be a totally interactive community, where you can connect with people of similar interests and health concerns and obtain easy to find, specific advice from respected experts. We’ve made a strong effort to have the tone of the site be upbeat and motivating, rather than dry and academic. Consider this distressing news from a recent survey fielded by Harris Interactive: 86% of Americans attempt healthy lifestyle changes but only 46% are successful. I don’t think this failure rate is due to lack of knowledge, but instead with a flawed approach. As an athlete, I know it’s easy to set goals – whether it’s winning the Tour de France, lowering my marathon time or trying to eat a little healthier. The hard part is follow-through: staying focused and motivated over the long term. We envision you using LIVESTRONG.COM to get motivated, focused and then take real-life, decisive action to achieve your goals.
