Waist Training... A WAIST of time?
So punny! LOL
But seriously I know Waist Training has become at least mildly popular lately (it has a fairly long history, though - not really "new", and I thought this article was really good: www.livestrong.com/article/360074-waist-cincher-training/
It tells about waist training's history, the risks and potential "benefits", etc.
Has anyone here tried it? I know I got some people with OPINIONS on this...

This was a really hot topic a few back in this very conversation. Quite a few opinions on it.
I'm not for it. From what I've read, it can really damage your body.

I'd rather do what's been proven to work well and has no side effects--eat well and exercise.

The truth is: there are no benefits to waist training.

Agreed Meli. I'm going to keep the rest of my opinion about the article to myself.

how could this have EVER fallen out of practice if it is the "answer"?
fortunately, i eat lots of bacon. i'd starve to death if i had to eat my words, dismissing all these myths.

As for posture support... why not develop your back and ab muscles instead of relying on a brace?

Corsets add a little Va Va Voom on those 'special' occasions. But I'm glad I'm not forced to wear one everyday by societal/fashion pressures. I have photos of my great grandmother and her sisters reclining as they were unable to sit with their corsets. Kept the little ladies helpless until they were needed in the war!

I wanna see Sparty in a waist trainer. To give him curves like bacon.

More slabbish perhaps Sparty? (Get it? Don't want to be rude.)

Waist trainers: uncomfy danger belt.
Bacon: literally the only thing my kid asked for on Thanksgiving. I gave him a bunch.

I wouldn't, particularly if you are a woman that has had kids, it's a bad move. Even with the best pelvic floor exercises in the world those muscles are never quite the same again. It's like a tube of toothpaste, if you squeeze the middle everything has to go somewhere else. I used to waist train pre kids when I was a teen, it made my stomach muscles weaker anyway. I definitely don't want to have a prolapse when I am older!
