I did not meet my goal today, need to be conscious about what I eat, as well as take my supplements regularly. Step it up!

I only got in about 100g today, and I am striving for 150 grams. That seemed the middle of the road for the reccomendations to build muscle. Try to get it going!

just coming out of school and still living on the poor students diet. Definitely need to get more protein in the diet, my deterrent at this point right now is cost as eggs can get old pretty quick. ;)

the only meat i usually eat is chicken or fish, so it is a challenge to get a whole lot of protein in. my recruiter said today that in order to get a 6 pack, i need to eat a lot more protein. yesterday i had 155% of my daily requirement, today on 78%. i just need to keep this # up while i am working out. i did not have my protein shake this morning though so maybe thats all it is. or the peanut butter. dont know.

I don't eat a lot of meat, so sometimes finding protien can be hard. I used to drink the protein shakes after working out- I work out a lot, but I still don't see a difference in my muscle mass (I think I need more strength training and a little less cardio)

Is 85 grams of protein = to one serving? If so, then I've had less than one serving of protein today (37g).

idk... i'm having an issue with the whole serving/grams of protein thing too. but if this helps you any, I looked it up online and apparently women are supposed to eat about .8g of protein daily per pound of body weight.

good luck =)

its 0.8 gms per kg

By sweetmel311 on July 12, 2009 at 08:22 AM

Serving size is usually by ounces and depends on the food, e.g. I believe the USDa considers a serving of meat to be 3oz.

As a vegan it's difficult to get protein, not because there aren't vegan sources, but because beans, tofu, etc. take time to prepare. Today I had lentils and beans. Tomorrow I hope to go to the grocery store and make a couple of different meals that I can bring to work during the week. I end up eating nothing but carbs at work!

By varunsadh on July 4, 2009 at 08:22 AM

i'm eating a very healthy amount of protein but need to cut down on carbs and fat. I would like to be around 100 gms of carbs per day and 20-25 gms of fat. This is quite difficult for me because I'm a vegetarian. I guess I'll start eating egg whites. That should help.

Getting worse. heh

By BlessSpecies on June 29, 2009 at 11:43 PM

This is ridiculously hard.
I need a freakin' COW at my side every day to meet my goal.

By BlessSpecies on June 25, 2009 at 11:03 PM

Ouch... I barely made it to 1/3 of my goal. I need nuts.....

By betterversion on May 25, 2009 at 01:51 PM

Hey all, I'm new to the website as a whole and this is my first challenge. I'm 24 years old and weigh 144 and I want to have my recommend amount of protein but I don't know what that is. I also want to know where to find protein. I know there are meats and fish, but I am also looking for a mid-day snack source. Any suggestions?

Wheat germ is good--2 tbsp.= 4 g. protein. You can add it to cereal, muffins, pancakes, put it on yogurt, etc. Also powdered milk has protein, and if you add it to cereal or other dairy-based foods or sauces, it's a sneaky protein you don't even notice. I've added both to baked goods to boost nutrition because I used to be very low on protein. Just remember to count either wheat germ or powdered milk as a dry ingredient in your cooking. So, if you're making muffins and want to add powdered milk (which doesn't affect the taste at all), just add the milk into the measuring cup the same time as the flour so your recipe doesn't end up too dry.
Peanuts, roasted soy nuts, and most dairy products have protein (yogurt is particularly good). So are eggs--hard boiled ones are good for snacks.
Good luck--relying solely on meat for protein can be a bit of a drag!

AMEN! Big time protein today. Great start with Kashi Go Lean Crunch, Pork Tenderloin for lunch, turkey meatballs after school. Yay muscles!

By tigerhunt2011 on April 11, 2009 at 10:49 PM

Had a TON of protein today! Did muscle exercises so I'm super glad!

By mprfsloml on March 16, 2009 at 09:34 PM

3 servings of protein = 250grams

By lenoraemerson on March 11, 2009 at 05:53 PM

Sometimes it's just hard to do but I know I have to make myself do it. I am going to need to get creative with where I get protein from so I don't feel like I have to gnaw on meat all the time.

First day on this dare. Tracking my plate made me realize how many carbs I was eating and decided to change. 22g for breakfast, I'm thinking a tuna lunch, not sure about dinner yet.

By Crisco1973 on February 23, 2009 at 05:03 PM

Feel stuffed today!!! Nutritionalist wants me to have 60-70, a day, so 87 is awesome!

By RioWindsor on December 13, 2008 at 12:45 PM

I'm trying to make sure I get more protein and less carbs in my diet. I'd like to track for this dare, but I have no idea what a "serving" of protein is. Is there a certain amount, or is it just a serving of protein-rich food? Help!

Really hard to get protien in and stay at caloric goal? Vegetarian so clories and carbs are easier to come by than the protien? I am averageing 40g, I know that is not enough for my workouts... need a secret protien pill. LOL

By dVs11 on February 8, 2009 at 08:52 PM

only 106g today but should make it up tomorrow...
